Photo, film, or both? An honest answer from a team that does both
What photos do that film can't, what film does that photos can't, and how to split a budget sensibly. With our real prices.

In this note
We’re a team of photographers and filmmakers, so of course we’d be happy to do both. But plenty of couples book only one and are completely happy with that choice. The right answer depends on what you’ll want to do with your wedding in ten years: look at it, listen to it, or both.
Here’s how we’d think about it if we were in your place, with real prices so you can see what each option costs.
What photographs do best
A photograph stops a moment so you can look at it for as long as you like. A glance across the room, a parent’s hand on a shoulder, a detail you didn’t notice on the day. Photos live easily in the world: on a wall, in an album, sent to a grandparent, printed for a friend.
A full-day photo story gives you 500 to 1,000 edited photos: the two of you, your guests, the details and the party. You get a sneak peek in the first days and the full gallery in three weeks.
What film does best
Film keeps what photos can’t: voices, movement and sound. The way your vows actually sounded. A speech that made the whole room laugh. Your first dance with the music playing. How your grandmother talks.
A full-day film gives you a highlights film of 3 to 5 minutes, a full wedding movie of 20 to 40 minutes and a short vertical clip for social media. It takes about a month to edit, and a Next-Day Teaser is available if you’d like something to share straight away.
When film matters most
Film is worth serious thought if:
- You’re writing your own vows, or people you love are giving speeches.
- Important people can’t travel to the wedding and would love to see and hear it properly.
- Your families speak different languages, and the day is full of moments that are as much about how something was said as what was said.
- Music is a big part of your day: a friend’s band, a song with history, a first dance you’ve practised.
If you can only choose one
Choose photography if you love albums and prints, want to share easily, and care most about the details and the faces of your guests.
Choose film if the words are the heart of your day, or if you know you’ll want to hear it as much as see it.
If you’re torn, a common middle ground is full-day photography with a few hours of film around the ceremony and speeches. That way the words are kept, without paying for two full days.
What each option costs
| Option | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Photo, full day | The Full Story: no hour limit, 500 to 1,000 photos | €2,490 |
| Film, full day | The Full Story: highlights, full wedding movie, social clip | €2,490 |
| Photo and film, full day | One photographer and one videographer, all day | €4,980 |
| Full-day photo, hourly film | Photo all day, film for up to 5 hours | €3,980 |
| Hourly photo or film | Up to 5 hours · 6 hours · 7 hours · 8 hours | €1,490 · €1,740 · €1,990 · €2,240 |
Travel to and from your venue is included in every package. A 20% deposit reserves your date. The full-day photo with hourly film option is simply €2,490 plus €1,490.
Hourly film includes a highlights film of 2 to 4 minutes, the full ceremony and a short social clip. It works well for elopements, or for covering the ceremony through to the speeches.
How photo and film work together
A common worry is that two people with cameras will turn the day into a production. With a team that works together, it’s the opposite. We plan the day together beforehand, agree who goes where, and stay out of each other’s frames. When a little guidance helps, one of us gives the prompt, and both of us capture what happens next. You never hear the same instruction twice.
The microphones for vows and speeches are small and discreet. Most guests won’t notice them, or us, for long.
Worth knowingFor a big wedding with two separate getting-ready locations, a second photographer (+€990) can matter more than adding film. Tell us how your day looks and we’ll give you an honest view.
A quick way to decide
Picture yourselves on a quiet evening ten years from now. Do you reach for an album, or press play? If the answer is “both”, it’s both. If it’s clearly one, that’s your answer, and it’s a perfectly good one.
